CHASSIS: AEC BRIDGEMASTER

BODYWORK: PARK ROYAL H70F

REGISTRATION: YJG807

BUILT: 1962

Ordered for Dover's route 129 which had a low bridge situated along it. At 14'6" the AEC Regents were too high to negotiate it where as these vehicles were only 13'5" high. Fitted with air suspension she can give a choppy ride compared to the Regents and their sprung suspension. Brigemasters were rare in 1962 but even rarer now. Mechanically they are part Regent and part Routemaster.
807 is owned by The Trust and David Ferguson.

BUILT:1970

Allocated to Dover depot when new in 1970. Mostly used on local town routes until being withdrawn in July 1981. In April 1983 she was purchased by the Bluebird Majorettes and was used as transport to events and a changing room. Whilst in their ownership she made two journys to France and one to the Isle of Wight!

At this time 187 was parked in an Army compound surrounded by tanks, during the great storm of 1987 just one tree was blown down at the camp. Typically this landed on 187 and caused major roof damage! When the tree was lifted chear it was found to be the same weight as the bus! The roof was repaired (not very well, there are still a few ripples there today) but a short time later the majorette' leader decided to sell her on to Farleigh Coaches near Rochester due to maintance problems. She arrived there in October 1987 and was used for five years before being set aside in July 1992. She sat in the yard for over six years providing the other vehicles with various spare parts.

Barrie Burlingham learned of 187's survival and arranged to go and see her. On coupling up some batteries she started immediatly. FotEK put up funds to purchase and restore her. After a short period of being parked on a farm outside Dover she was moved to Dover Transport Museum and later to FotEK's secure undercover garage in east Kent where work began. After 700 hours work she passed her MOT in June 2001 and made her debut at the Deal Running Day.

After her recent engine rebiud by Barrie and Carl (see News section) she is now MOT'd again and back on the road.
